However his situation is far from pleasant, so at the first opportunity he flees, along with few others. Given that he was a convict the only thing left for him to do is to become a pirate. |
Peter Blood is a rather interesting character. He makes his choices, good or bad, always thinking what would Arabella think about this or that, even when he has no hope of ever seeing her again. Which is rather interesting as we perhaps never get to see him as he really is but only as he thinks Arabella would like him (I’m partially kidding, he must have been a good and noble person himself else he would have made some things different, Arabella or no Arabella :) ).
I did enjoy the book, especially the second half when the action picks up even more. It’s a perfect book for the fans of adventures at sea, with a lot of battles between ships or even between ships and forts. With Captain Blood always a winner of course :) (but usually a winner because of his ideas and/or skill not because of brute force, a thing that makes the book all the more interesting).
